Nintendo Cardboard Engineering

In the 2019 PPA (Paperboard Packaging Alliance) student design challenge, the goal was to create a convertible paperboard structure that can transform from a traditional retail display to a consumer home product. This structure was engineered to convert from a shelf-stable unit, to a paperboard-based display stand.

This simulation shows the stress points and flex, when weight is applied at the principle. Qualitative study demonstrates calculated flex positioning, demonstrating that this paper structure can hold the weight of the Nintendo Switch™ Console.
